Description
An expedition deep into the African jungle makes a startling discovery: Liane, a blonde sixteen-year-old woman revered as a goddess by a local tribe. She is brought back to Hamburg, where she is reunited with her grandfather, shipping magnate Von Amelongen, who welcomes her as his rightful heir.
Not everyone is pleased by her return. Von Amelongen’s nephew Schoening, the current head of the firm and presumed successor, resorts to increasingly desperate measures to prevent his uncle from acknowledging Liane — including perjury, destruction of evidence, and ultimately murder. His schemes unravel when he dies in a fatal car accident while fleeing the authorities.
Interwoven with the central drama is a romantic subplot involving Thoren, who initially serves as a paternal protector to Liane, Jacqueline, a biologist secretly in love with him, and Tibor, a Hungarian admirer courting Jacqueline. As relationships shift and tensions rise, Thoren ultimately succumbs to Liane’s youthful charm and returns with her to the jungle.
